To begin your first project, head to the dashboard where you'll find an overview of all your projects. Click on the "New Project" button. From here, you have three options:

  1. Concept Submission: If you choose the "Concept" option to start, you can upload a simple PDF (with a max. of around 30.000 words) outlining your idea, or type your concept directly into the provided box. Your concept can be as basic or detailed as you prefer, from a brief synopsis to a comprehensive outline. Select the genre and art style, then click "Add Project" to proceed.

  2. Script Upload: If you've already written a script, you can easily upload your project file from FinalDraft (*.fdx), CeltX, WriterDuet or any other scriptwriting software (*.fountain) here, and our system will accurately recognize and import it into Storyboarder.ai as a script, that you can then use as your foundation for creating shotlist and storyboard.

  3. Start with a Shot List Instead of a Screenplay: If you want to skip the screenplay process, you can start directly with a shot list. To do this, upload an Excel file containing all the scenes and shots you want to import into the tool. Here's a template you can download and use for the upload again.

How to Upload a Shot List:

    Download the Template.

β€‹πŸ“Œ Quick Tip for Uploading Your Excel Shot List

To ensure everything runs smoothly, please follow these important guidelines:

    • Scene & Shot Structure:
Shots should restart with each new scene. Example:
      Scene 1, Shot 1 β†’ Scene 1, Shot 2 β†’ Scene 2, Shot 1 β†’ Scene 2, Shot 2, and so on.

    • Consistent Scene Headings:
Make sure the scene heading is written exactly the same for all rows belonging to the same scene. No typos, no variations.

    • Numeric Only:
Only use numbers in the Scene and Shot columns. Do not enter letters or symbols.

    • Template Integrity:
Please don’t add, remove, or rename columns. Stick to the provided structure.

Following these steps helps the tool interpret your shot list correctly and avoid errors. πŸ‘

Once your project is created, you'll either be directed to the screenplay or starting in the shot list section. If you are in the Screenplay section, you can generate the screenplay based on your uploaded information or if you've already written a script, it'll be there already prepared and formatted. Once you are done with that, switch to the shotlist section to start creating your shots and images. The AI will suggest scenes and characters, which you can modify as needed to fit your vision.

Attention: Editing and writing a screenplay is easy for professionals to understand. But if you are not a professional, it is better to generate your screenplay and leave it is as it is. You'll have all the freedom of editing your story in scenes and shots within the shot list section.

That's it for the initial setup!
