In this guide, we will explain how to use the Screenplay page. Here’s a step-by-step overview of the process, as demonstrated in our tutorial.

Overview of the Screenplay Page 📝

Once your screenplay was imported, the typical screenplay format includes various elements:

  • Scene Headings (essential to generate shots!)

  • Action elements

  • Characters

  • Dialog

  • Transitions

Writing a Script ✍️

Attention: Writing a screenplay is easy for professionals to understand. But if you are not a professional, it is better to generate your screenplay and leave it as it is. You'll have all the freedom to edit your story within your shot list later on.

If you feel confident:

To start editing your script, you can modify the existing or generated script in the "Editing Mode". Here’s a quick guide to writing a screenplay:

  1. Scene Heading: Begin by defining a scene heading, such as "INT. - HOUSE - DAY". Press Enter to move to the next element.

  2. Action Element: After the scene heading, the system automatically switches to an action element. For instance, "Maria walks into the living room." Press Enter to proceed.

  3. Character: Next, enter the name of the character speaking, e.g., "Maria". Press Enter again.

  4. Dialog: Type in the character’s dialog. Continue pressing Enter to move between elements logically.

Repeat these steps to build your screenplay. When a scene ends, you can manually add transitions like "Hard Cut To:". Press Enter, and the system will prompt you to add the next scene heading, such as "EXT. - GARDEN - NIGHT".

Additional Features 🌟

  • Text Formatting: You can format text in bold, italics, or underline.

  • Find & Replace: Easily locate and replace words within your script.

  • Undo: Use the undo arrows to revert changes at any time.

  • Scene Numbers: If scene numbers aren’t visible, refresh the page to display them.

Finalizing Your Script ✅

Once your script is complete:

  1. Navigate to the shot list.

  2. Generate your shots.

Storyboarder.ai can automatically create a screenplay based on your input, allowing you to transition seamlessly to generating shots and storyboard images.

We hope you enjoy writing your script with Storyboarder.ai! 🎥✨
